MUSK: Uniform Sampling of k Maximal Patterns

چکیده
Recent research in frequent pattern mining (FPM) has shifted from obtaining the complete set of frequent patterns to generating only a representative (summary) subset of frequent patterns. Most of the existing approaches to this problem adopt a two-step solution; in the first step, they obtain all the frequent patterns, and in the second step, some form of clustering is used to obtain the summary pattern set. However, the twostep method is inefficient and sometimes infeasible since the first step itself may fail to finish in a reasonable amount of time. In this paper, we propose an alternative approach to mining frequent pattern representatives based on a uniform sampling of the output space. Our new algorithm, Musk, obtains representative patterns by sampling uniformly from the pool of all frequent maximal patterns; uniformity is achieved by a variant of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm. Musk simulates a random walk on the frequent pattern partial order graph with a prescribed transition probability matrix, whose values are computed locally during the simulation. In the stationary distribution of the random walk, all maximal frequent pattern nodes in the partial order graph are sampled uniformly. Experiments on various kind of graph and itemset databases validate the effectiveness of our approach.

On the maximal ideal space of extended polynomial and rational uniform algebras
Let K and X be compact plane sets such that K X. Let P(K)be the uniform closure of polynomials on K. Let R(K) be the closure of rationalfunctions K with poles o K. Dene P(X;K) and R(X;K) to be the uniformalgebras of functions in C(X) whose restriction to K belongs to P(K) and R(K),respectively. Let CZ(X;K) be the Banach algebra of functions f in C(X) suchthat fjK = 0. In this paper, we show th...

Captive farming of alpine musk deer (Moschus sifanicus) in China has been used for conservation and harvesting of musk since the mid 1950s. Despite this long history, management practices and captive breeding have been primarily based on trial and error due to lack of behavioral and ecological information about this vulnerable species. Understanding behavioral patterns plays a vital part in det...

To establish the behavioral indicator of reproductive success of female captive Alpine musk deer(Moschus sifanicus), the focal sampling was used to record the individual behaviors at Xinglongshan MuskDeer Farm (XMDF), Gansu province, China. Conducted between June 2008 and January 2009, 31 adultfemales were observed, of which 26 had successfully bred in the previous year, and five of which wereb...
متن کاملDifferential requirement for MuSK and dystroglycan in generating patterns of neuromuscular innervation.
Vertebrates display diverse patterns of neuromuscular innervation, but little is known about how such diversity is generated. In mammals, neuromuscular junctions form predominantly at equatorial locations, giving rise to a focal innervation pattern along a central endplate band. In addition, vertebrate striated muscles exhibit two nonfocal neuromuscular patterns, myoseptal and distributed inner...
متن کاملComplete stable remission and autoantibody specificity in myasthenia gravis.
OBJECTIVES Patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) are subgrouped as acetylcholine receptor (AChR)-positive, muscle-specific kinase (MuSK)-positive, and AChR/MuSK-negative MG (or double negative [DN]) on the basis of autoantibody assay. We investigated the relationships between autoantibody specificity, main clinical features, and outcome of the disease, in particular the occurrence of complete st...
